How to Build a Reading Habit That Sticks

Most people who "want to read more" do not lack discipline; they lack a system. A durable reading habit is built on cues and low friction, not motivation.
Attach it to something you already do
Habits stick when they ride on an existing routine — a few pages with morning coffee, ten minutes before sleep. Keep the book physically visible where that routine happens, because out of sight really is out of mind. Starting absurdly small, even one page, lowers the barrier enough to begin, and beginning is usually the hard part.
Permission to quit books
Nothing kills a reading habit faster than grinding through a book you dislike out of obligation. Allowing yourself to abandon books keeps reading enjoyable, which is what makes you come back. Track what you finish, however briefly — seeing progress is quietly motivating.
